Wild Wild Weekend

NFL Wild Card weekend is upon us. The 8 worse teams to make the playoffs square off to see if they can possibly knock off the 4 best playoff teams next weekend. The picks are in from Grizzly Bear & I.

Grizzly’s Comments:
Playoffs?

Grizzly Picks:

Fred’s Picks:
I expect the Saints to win 45-7. The Seahawks are probably the 3rd best team in the NFC West. They were already beaten badly this year by the Saints, and this beating will be even worse.
The Colts aren’t as dominant as they used to be but I still think they’ll win 33-31. Manning is far superior to Mark Sanchez & the Colts kicker is a Hall of Famer, while the Jets kicker is as good as I am, so chances are it will come down to a late field goal.
I expect the Ravens to win 24-0. The Chiefs, like the Seahawks, are the 3rd best team in their division. The Ravens will stop the run without issue & Cassel & Co. cannot win a game, as we’ve seen all year.
Pack wins 31-17. The Packers destroyed the Eagles defensively in Week 1. Michael Vick can be rattled, Aaron Rodgers cannot be rattled. The Packers also have Clay Matthews on defense, who has been the most productive defensive player all season.

Grizzly Bear’s Analysis:

New England @ Detroit: Detroit is a lackluster team. New England is the favorite and very much should be. I don’t see how Detroit can pull off an upset although it would be nice for Jets fans. New England 35 Detroit 12

New Orleans @ Dallas: Dallas has awaken thanks to Garrett. New Orelans dominated Seattle but, Seattle isn’t that good. It’s a home game for Dallas but, Brees is a Helluva lot better than Kitna. A nice close game. New Orleans 20 Dallas 17 in OT

Cincy @ NYJ: Cincy sucks but, Jets always make things interesting. Expect another close one despite a mismatch on paper. Cincy 17 Jets 23

Fred Mrmins’ Picks:

Fred Mrmins’ Analysis:

New England @ Detroit: I expect a close game in this one. The Lions have enough firepower to hang with the Patriots. The Lions also play better at home. Patriots 24 Lions 21

New Orleans @ Dallas: I expect this game to be a shootout. The Cowboys all of a sudden have efforts under their new coach & the trend will continue. The Saints played terribly through the first few weeks of the season but are now finally back to being the Saints. Saints will pull out a tight one in the end. Saints 42 Cowboys 38

Cincy @ NYJ: Grizzly Bear is an avid Jets fan & based on what he’s seen so far this season he assumes the Jets will let the Bengals stick around for a while, then pull one out late. I couldn’t disagree more. The only team the Jets have handled this year is the Buffalo Bills & last week the Bills put 49 points up on the Bengals. While I don’t expect the Jets to put up 49, if they try they will beat the Bengals worse than they did the Bills. Cincy 13 Jets 38

NFL Week 10

After a sloppy first half of play the Thursday night matchup between the Ravens & Falcons was great, which eventually was won by Matt Ryan & the Falcons. As a result the pundits here at Sports News Center are inspired to make some NFL picks this week.

Fantasy Tips:
Fred Mrmins:
Make sure to start TE Vernon Davis of the San Francisco 49ers. I expect him to have a big day against the Rams.

Grizzly Bear: McCoy is the next big thing but don’t start him this week. Start WR Hakeem Nicks of the New York Giants, he is bound to catch a few balls against the uninspired Cowboys.
