Please Shut Up Floyd Landis
Floyd Landis surprised absolutely no one when he came out & finally admitted he was a cheater. Landis spent the money he won from his one year of success & money he essentially stole from fans in an attempt to clear his name of “false allegations” that he was a cheater.
After stealing money to clear his name of truthful charged brought against him Landis has finally admitted he is a cheater & was for some time. Landis now claims he cheated because everyone else was cheating & he had to do so in order to keep up with everyone else.

He has sent emails to the powers that be tattling on other cyclists who are cheaters & as every cheater has done he pointed the finger at Lance Armstrong. To my knowledge Armstrong has never failed a drug test, yet any one who does immediately says “Well since Armstrong’s doing it I should do it to keep up.”
Had Landis came out & admitted he was a cheater from the start & claimed he did so in order to keep up, then out the other cheaters in an attempt to clean up the sport people might’ve cared. At this point Landis has proven himself to be a fraud & what little money he has left may go by the wayside as fans he duped into donating money to him may be looking for it back.
Always remember – Cheaters Never Prosper, well only in baseball.
World Cup Soccer Getting Interesting

Before last week I wasn’t even aware there was going to be a World Cup in soccer next month. David Beckham & Jozy Altidore have changed all of that.
David Beckham who has been a soccer star for years has switched between playing in England & the US the last few years. As a result the English soccer squad has asked him to provide a scouting report of the US team. Beckham will not play in the World Cup due to an injured Achilles tendon, so I’m assuming the English team wants to keep him involved for publicity’s sake.

As if discussing someone being a spy for another team, how about some back & forth between rivals? Answering back to the stories that Beckham was asked to provide insight for England in regards to the American team Jozy Altidore made waves. Altidore claims he told “Becks” that the Americans will be the English squad 3-0. Some are considering this a psychological advantage but in the end it is just plain dumb.
The English team is better than the American team as is, so to say the US will win 3-0 is saying much. A 3-0 score in soccer is like a 42-0 shellacking in football, very unlikely, especially for the inferior team to pull off. Altidore needs to pipe down before the English squad has even more reason to beat the US squad.
Lucky Strikes
Two weeks ago a household name in jockey Calvin Borel rode Super Saver to victory in the Kentucky Derby. At today’s Preakness Stakes a not so well known jockey in Martin Garcia rode Lookin at Lucky to victory. Garcia, who five years ago at this time was making sandwiches in a deli, would not be denied.

Borel failed to ride the rail as he often does leading many to speculate that is what cost Super Saver the victory. We are once again, to some people’s delight, guaranteed another year without a triple crown winner in horse racing. Not since Affirmed in 1978 has the feat been done.
The official results were 1st: Lookin at Lucky Place: First Dude & Show: Jackson Bend. Yawanna Twist came 4th, Dublin 5th, Paddy O’Prado 6th, Caracortado 7th, Super Saver a disappointing 8th, Schoolyard Dreams 9th, Aikenite 10th, Pleasant Prince 11th & rounding at the field in 12th was Northern Giant.
While many horse racing fans may be disappointed by today’s outcome it once again proves how difficult it is two win the first two legs of the Triple Crown, much less pull off the trifecta.
Various College Sports News
5-7 teams may now be eligible for bowl games in college football. Many have argued that the bowls should be used to construct playoff in college football, while others are against it. Winning teams used to be rewarded for having a good season by being invited to a bowl game, now it appears we are headed towards everyone being invited to bowl games.
Boise St. was invited to the Big West conference due to their constant dominance. Boise St. has dominated the landscape of their league but may actually explore this to enhance their strength of schedule & in turn help them in their attempt to actually be considered for the championship game.
Pre-Season #1 Duke & pre-season #3 Michigan St. to square off in the ACC/Big Ten challenge in college basketball on December 1st.
FIU star Garrett Wittels keeps on hitting. His hit streak is now at 42 games.
Missouri indicates they will listen to the Big Ten’s offer if the Big Ten actually calls them, leading to speculation again that Missouri, Nebraska, Rutgers & Notre Dame were not actually invited yet.
Big Ten Expanding?
Every major news station reported yesterday that the Big Ten had extended offers to Rutgers, Missouri, Nebraska & Notre Dame to join the Big Ten. Just as quickly as it was reported the schools denied the report.
Supposedly Rutgers invitation only exists if Notre Dame decides to join the Big Ten, which will be unlikely to happen. The move is primarily financial, with the Big Ten station in place the Big Ten is looking to branch out into other markets so Missouri, Nebraska & Notre Dame make sense. Rutgers on the other hand makes no sense as they have a limited following but those close to the situation have explained it as Rutgers bringing in the NY area market.

Nebraska: Once a proud program has only recently been back to a level of dominance. With Texas & Oklahoma running the Big Twelve for the last few years it would be in the best interest of Nebraska to join the Big Ten where they’d play an easier schedule & may be able to average ten wins a season.
Missouri: A program that hasn’t had all that much success, Missouri is a great decision primarily based on location. While Missouri won’t bring the cache that Nebraska or Notre Dame would they’d still bring in fans who’d buy the Big Ten network to watch them, which is essentially the goal.
Notre Dame: A no brainer for a number of reasons but chances are slim & none that Notre Dame will join the Big Ten. They are paid a nice sum by NBC to air their games, so moving to the Big Ten means they share TV revenues with the other Big Ten teams. Notre Dame has a following all over the country, which is why the Big Ten has offered the invitation, yet again.
Rutgers: An intriguing pick considering Rutgers doesn’t have that much of a fan base. Many suggest the invitation is merely an attempt to sell the Big Ten network to people in the NY area. Mike Francesa claims the offer was made simply to appease Joe Paterno who wants a school in the Big Ten close to him. While reports are Rutgers invitation only exists if Notre Dame joins the Big Ten Rutgers would be fools not to accept.
I’m sure we’ll hear Syracuse thrown around a lot but for now these are the teams the Big Ten appears to be looking at.
The Champ is Here: Who Will Claim the Title as Best in UFC
The return of UFC Champion Brock Lesnar is finally set in stone. Lesnar will make his return on July 3rd at UFC 116.
Lesnar, unable to compete since his victory at UFC 100 over Frank Mir due to diverticulitis, will face interim UFC champion Shane Carwin at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas, Nevada. Due to Lesnar’s illness UFC president Dana White had no choice but to attempt to crown an interim champion during Lesnar’s absence.

Now that Lesnar has returned the UFC is banking on a champion vs. champion main event drawing extra buyrates.
The fight could go down in a few ways:
Lesnar could experience “octagon rust” from having been out of action for so long & the match may plod on until Lesnar gets a feel for competition again. The UFC is hoping Lesnar will not have this problem.
Lesnar could come out & prove his dominance by beating Carwin soundly & quickly. Again this is not what the uFC is hoping for.
Lesnar & Carwin could have a slugfest that spans multiple rounds that eventually sees a definitive winner or possibly a judge’s decision. This is what the UFC is looking for, as it will draw attention, and may even gain them a few new fans.
All in all Lesnar is great for the UFC & he has been missed in his absence.
