Can’t Touch This: Ubaldo Continues to Dominate

Ubaldo Jimenez had another dominate outing last night recording his eight victory of the season. Ubaldo went seven innings, striking out four & only giving up one hit against the lowly Astros.

Jimenez has only lost one game on the season, meaning his current ERA (0.99) & current WHIP (0.93) are lower than his loss total of 1. If the bullpen continues to cost Tim Lincecum games & Roy Halladay continues to be locked up in pitching duels Ubaldo could be a shoe in as starter for the NL team in the All-Star game. Then again Charlie Manuel has every right to reward his ace.

Roy Oswalt again pitched well for the Astros but lost due to the ineptitude of the Astros players. The ineptitude & lack of effort from the Astros has forced Oswalt to publicly ask for a trade. Teams will now start lining up with offers for Oswalt but he will dictate where he ends up.

The Astros may use Gustavo Chacin who used to pitch for the Blue Jays a number of years ago as a starter once they end up trading Oswalt, though they may have to stretch Chacin’s arm out as he’s been pitching in relief recently.

  • [...] Ubaldo Jimenez won his first six starts, including a no hitter before finally losing his first start of the season. He’s given up two runs in twenty three innings since, recording three more victories. Jimenez has only given up seven runs in 71.1 innings thus far this season. To put that into perspective, those are the type of numbers I get in MLB The Show with created pitchers with sliders all the way up on easy mode. In other words Jimenez is putting up historic numbers. [...]
